The Sagano Scenic Railway also known as the Sagano Romantic Train or Sagano Torokko is a 25 minutes slow paced train ride that runs along the Hozugawa River between Arashiyama district and Kameoka. The old-fashioned train gives a nostalgic view of the scenery from Arashiyama along the timbered abyss and into rural Kameoka.
The breath-taking views along the line change with the seasons, and the scenic railway is predominantly popular during autumn from mid-November to early December. Tickets are usually bought at Torokko Saga Station or at JR ticket offices at Kansai Region. It is advisable that you purchase your tickets ahead of time to ensure a seat during peak season. You can also opt in to standing tickets for the same price.
